57 RHS Students Earn Governor’s Merit Scholarship

Each year, the state of Ohio provides seniors with new opportunities through the Governor’s Merit Scholarship. According to the Department of Higher Education and Workforce (ODEW), the scholarship has three main objectives:

• Reduce financial barriers preventing Ohio’s top high school graduates from pursuing higher education;
• Recognize the impressive scholastic achievement of Ohio’s top graduates; and
• Incentivize Ohio’s high-achieving high school students to attend an institution of higher education (IHE) in Ohio.

This year, 57 RHS students were within the top 10% of the state and were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement. They will all receive guaranteed entrance into a public Ohio college or university of their choice.

In addition, 29 students placed within the top 5% and also received a $5,000 yearly scholarship to help fund their studies.
